In this post, I'm here to give further information about the specialized social service associations operating in Italy to help immigrants in the process of applying / renewal / converting residence permit. They are called as "Patronato". They offer various services from pension to process work related documents.
In my experience, my first employer helped me in converting my student permit to work permit, eventually once my residence permit was expired I've to renew it. Being in Italy, there are usually many different ways to do the same process (just for fun).
Most general information / documents related to residence permit is available in https://www.portaleimmigrazione.it/ which provides most important information such as : what documents should be attached with the application, how much you should pay, almost everything which you need; documents with example (how to fill it up);. Also, it recommends us to visit one of the patronato offices in Italy, if you need help in filling the applications or to get more information.
If you search in google ( patronato xxx ) in my case, (patronato torino) you can find an office which is closer to you . Please be aware that these offices are usually crowded, therefore better to there with an appointment or 10 minutes before they open.
Personally, I have visited www.cafaclitorino.it ( ACLI torino service) they were very kind and helpful. Address [ Via dei quatteri 6/L ] google maps
